The star has donated the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound award prize money to the trust for venues, which operates to save the Britain's small live music spots.

Fender was given the award on 16 October as his new release the album was declared the best record of the previous year.

He has chosen to donate the funds to the Music Venues Trust, in acknowledgment of the vital role small stages fulfilled in his initial steps.

"As an artist couldn't be pursuing what I am doing today if it hadn't been for all the performances I did around the area, and further afield, when I was beginning," remarked Sam Fender. "These spaces are renowned, but they are facing challenges."

Since the start of 2023, more than 150 of these venues have shut down – about 16 percent of the entire UK sector.

Recently, top acts like Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its initiatives to help venues survive, by including a minor surcharge to their ticket costs, which supports local stages.

He also participated, collecting over £100k on his recent tour to help thirty-eight local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The donation assisted spaces that were confronting potential shutdown due to challenges caused by floods, blazes and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Some locations received funding support in improving facilities and gear that positively impacted artists and audiences.

"The concept that money from concerts in major spaces backs the local stages, where it all starts for performers like me, is just logical," Sam Fender has stated.

They are one example who contributed their honor winnings to non-profits

He is among several artists to donate his honor winnings to charitable organizations.

When they received the award in 1996 for their release Different Class, vocalist the singer declared that the act would donate their winnings to the non-profit War Child.

During 2002, artist Ms Dynamite shared her bounty between several good causes, such as the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"And I gave a grand to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics class, because I did gymnastics when I was a child and they required new equipment," the artist shared with outlets.

Previously, the band gave their prize money to the community center that supported their group, in addition to other local music groups.

Also the 1994 recipients M People gave their award to a multiple sclerosis charity after a close contact was diagnosed the illness.

"The victory was ample," remarked vocalist the singer. "The cash was the bonus but we didn't need the cherry, because we had the cake. So our winning impacted another person's life."

Recently, the Music Venues Trust announced it had saved a couple of grassroots venues in the South East, by bringing them into local control.

One venue in Southampton and The Croft in Bristol were bought under the Own Our Venues initiative, which is funded by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who purchase "stakes" in the buildings.
